DONATE TO DEFEND A CITY-OWNED PUBLIC ROAD AT RICHVIEW PLAZA
We need safe, accessible, community-focused development!
Three buildings of 14, 24 and 29 storeys have been approved for the Richview Plaza site.
In March 2026, Toronto City Council directed the developer to include a City-owned public road through this larger and more complex development.
The developer has appealed to the Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT) and is seeking approval for a narrower, private laneway.
The City Official Plan generally requires new streets to be public streets unless otherwise deemed appropriate by the City.
The City is sending legal counsel to defend its position at the OLT, and so is the RGRRA!
Our participation at the OLT is critical to properly represent the community’s interests.
With a strong and unanimous mandate from the community at our Annual General Meeting on May 12, 2026, the RGRRA has retained a highly experienced municipal land-use lawyer who will provide services PRO BONO!
WHAT OUR COMMUNITY IS FIGHTING FOR
The RGRRA was established to advocate for responsible development, protect neighbourhood interests, and promote the long-term wellbeing of our community.
We support the redevelopment of Richview Plaza that prioritizes:
✅ Walkability for residents and visitors of all ages
✅ Safe and reliable access for seniors, children, cyclists, and families
✅ Reliable traffic circulation and connectivity to existing road network
✅ Thriving local businesses
✅ Long-term public accountability and maintenance
✅ Safe emergency vehicle access throughout the site
A City-owned public road is essential to achieving these goals.
WHAT’S AT RISK
If the Developer’s appeal succeeds, our Community could face:
This development will shape our Community for decades. The decisions made at the OLT cannot easily be reversed tomorrow.
Help us raise the funds to keep the public road!
To effectively defend the City-owned public road at the OLT, our Community must mobilize immediately.
Our Immediate Priorities:
-
We are very fortunate to have already retained a highly experienced municipal land-use lawyer who is providing PRO BONO services to our community
-
We are getting quotes from expert witnesses to testify for us
-
We are coordinating with Councillor Holyday and the City lawyer
-
We are asking for Party Status at the June 1, 2026 OLT Case Management meeting where parties and hearing dates will be confirmed
HELP US REACH OUR PRELIMINARY
$80,000 GOAL
Meaningful Community representation requires funds for:
-
Planning consultants
-
Transportation analysis experts
-
OLT preparation and participation
Every contribution strengthens our community’s voice. No single household is expected to carry this burden alone. Success will depend on broad community participation alongside leadership donors.
